Syracuse’s Fenne, Duke’s Blazing Earn ACC Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Syracuse’s Alma Fenne and Duke’s Lauren Blazing have been named the ACC Field Hockey Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week.

Fenne scored once in each of the Orange’s two wins this weekend to extend her streak to four-straight games with a goal. The graduate student from Amsterdam, Netherlands, netted the first goal in Syracuse’s 2-1 win at No. 11 Louisville, then tallied the eventual game winner in a 3-1 triumph over Indiana on Sunday to move top-ranked Syracuse to 13-0 on the season.

Blazing and the Duke defense held two opponents to a combined one goal last week. No. 10 Boston College was held to just one score on 17 shots Friday in a come-from-behind 2-1 victory for the Blue Devils. Her eight saves marked her second-highest total on the season, with two coming on a final BC penalty corner opportunity at the end of the contest. The redshirt senior from Durham, North Carolina, earned her second shutout of the season Sunday in the overtime win over No. 17 Boston University, keeping the Terriers off the board for all 83 minutes of action. Blazing has only allowed one goal in the last 281:12 of game action over her last four contests.
