Syracuse’s Sydney Leiher and Joel Hubbard earn ACC Cross Country Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Syracuse sophomore Sydney Leiher has been named the ACC Women’s Cross Country Performer of the Week, while the Orange’s Joel Hubbard was selected as the Men’s Cross Country Performer of the Week.

Leiher won the first race of her career, leading the 13th-ranked Orange to a second place finish at the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational in University Park, Pa. In a field that included 20th-ranked West Virginia and No. 29 Penn State, the Beavercreek, Ohio, sophomore finished the 6 mile race in 21:01 and led a group of five Syracuse runners in the top 12.

Hubbard turned in a second place finish at the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational in University Park, Pa., leading the eighth-ranked Orange to a second place finish. In an 11-team field that included 29th-ranked Georgetown, the Marshfield, Mass., sophomore finished the 5.2 mile race in 26:24 and earned the highest overall finish in his career.
