GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) - Florida State senior middle blocker Sareea Freeman and Clemson senior middle hitter Sandra Adeleye have been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Volleyball Co-Players of the Week, announced by the conference on Monday. North Carolina freshman middle blocker Paige Neuenfeldt has been named the Freshman of the Week.
Freeman delivered the championship-winning point on a kill in the fourth set as the Seminoles defeated No. 23 Miami, 3-1, to clinch the program's fourth ACC title. The Fresno, Calif., native had 11 kills and hit .381 in the victory as Florida State improved to 27-3, earning a national seed in the NCAA Championship for the third time. This is Freeman's fourth career ACC Player of the Week honor, a record for a Florida State student-athlete.
Adeleye closed out her career with 18 kills while hitting .500 in a sweep of Georgia Tech. The native of Katy, Texas, averaged 6.00 kills, 1.33 blocks, and 6.67 points per set, accounting for nearly a third of all of Clemson's scoring in the match. The 18 kills is the third-most by an ACC student-athlete in a three set match this season.
Neuenfeldt led the Tar Heels to a victory over NC State in five sets to be named the Freshman of the Week for sixth time this season. The Birmingham, Mich., native tallied 11 kills with only two errors with a .429 hitting percentage. Neuenfeldt also added nine blocks as the Tar Heels finished the regular season with a record of 25-5.
