Maryland's Grove, Clemson's Brenner Earn Weekly ACC Volleyball Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Maryland middle/right side hitter Brittney Grove tallied a career-high 16 kills in the Terps' upset of Duke and has been selected the Atlantic Coast Conference Volleyball Player of the Week. Clemson setter Hannah Brenner registered 99 assists en route to being named the league's Freshman of the Week.

Grove, a senior from Glen Allen, Va., hit .321 with 22 kills, 25 digs and five total blocks as Maryland (19-10, 10-7 ACC) picked up victories against conference foes Wake Forest and Duke. Grove currently ranks second on the team with 101 total blocks this season. She has also tallied 247 digs and 29 service aces.

In the 3-0 sweep of the Demon Deacons, Grove recorded a match-high 14 digs along with six kills, one block and one service ace. Facing conference-leading Duke on Sunday, Grove posted a double-double with a career-best 16 kills and 11 digs. She added four blocks and two service aces. The Terps won 3-1, which marked their first victory over the Blue Devils since 2005.

Brenner averaged 12.38 assists per set as Clemson (17-11, 8-9 ACC) topped Virginia and Virginia Tech. The Orrville, Ohio, native added 15 digs, 11 kills, and seven total blocks.

Against Virginia on Friday, Brenner registered a double-double with 53 assists and 10 digs, while also posting seven kills and three blocks. She led Clemson to a season-high 66 kills and a .278 hitting percentage. Facing Virginia Tech Saturday, she tallied 46 assists, five digs, four kills and four blocks, including one block solo. She helped the Tigers' hit .308 in the match. Clemson won both matches in four sets.
