Mead entered the weekend hitting 5.09 kills per set, the second most in the nation, and managed to increase that total with two 20-kill performances in four-set wins at Boston College and Maryland. Combined between the two matches, she connected on 51 kills for a .392 hitting percentage and added 21 digs.
Against Boston College, the Newnan, Ga. native tallied her 11th double-double of the year with 22 kills and 12 digs. Gallagher helped the Hurricanes beat NC State, 3-0, and North Carolina, 3-1. The win over UNC jumped Miami over the Tar Heels, giving them sole possession of second place in the ACC.
The conference leader in assists, Gallagher compiled 96 in the two-match stretch for a 13.71 average. In the win over North Carolina, she had 53 assists and had 43 against the Wolfpack. The Winter Park, Fla. native helped three players reach double-figure kills against the Tar Heels and four more against the Wolfpack. This marks her first award of the season and the second of her career.
Rosendall and the Demon Deacons went 2-1 on the week, picking up two five-set conference wins over Virginia Tech and Virginia. Against VCU in a midweek match, the freshman setter amassed 64 assists, a single-match high by an ACC player this season regardless of class.
