NCAA Women's Tennis Singles and Doubles Selections Announced

GREENSBORO, N.C. ( - Eleven Atlantic Coast Conference student-athletes will be among the 64 competitors in the 2013 NCAA Division I Women’s Tennis Singles Championship, to be held May 22-27 at the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex/Atkins Tennis Center in Urbana, Ill.

ACC Player of the Year Gina Suarez-Malaguti earned the ACC’s automatic qualifying spot and is seeded No. 7 in the singles field. Also selected to the field were Duke’s Hanna Mar and Ester Goldfeld, Clemson’s Yana Koroleva, Beatrice Gumulya and Anne-Liz Jeukeng, North Carolina’s Zoe De Bruycker, Whitney Kay and Caroline Price, NC State’s Joelle Kissell, and ACC Freshman of the Year Julia Elbaba of Virginia. Miami’s Stephanie Wagner and Florida State’s Daneika Borthwick were selected as singles alternates.

Two ACC tandems are among the 32-team doubles field, led by automatic qualifier Mary Clayton and Ester Goldfeld of Duke. Virginia’s Maci Epstein and Erin Vierra earned an at-large selection, while  Cavalier teammates Li Xi and Stephanie Nauta, and Ashley Dai and Whitney Kay of North Carolina were chosen as doubles alternates.

The ACC will also be well-represented in the NCAA women's team competition, which gets under way on May 10. Second-seeded North Carolina, No. 6-seeded Miami, No. 13-seeded Clemson, No. 14-seeded Virginia, Duke, Florida State, Georgia Tech and NC State all earned spots in the field.
