GREENSBORO, N.C. – Clemson sophomore Yana Koroleva has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, announced Tuesday by the league office.
Koroleva picked up her league-leading third player of the week honor of the season following a 4-0 week in singles and doubles action while helping Clemson to road wins over No. 44 NC State (6-1) and Wake Forest (6-1) during the final weekend of the regular season.
Both of the Moscow, Russia, native’s singles wins at the No. 1 slot were over top-100 players. Koroleva took down No. 46 Joelle Kissell of NC State, 6-4, 6-0, and defeated No. 99 Kathryn Talbert of Wake Forest, 2-6, 6-1, 6-2.
In doubles action, Koroleva teamed with classmate Beatrice Gumulya at No. 1 to record 8-5 and 8-4 wins over their Wolfpack and Demon Deacon counterparts, respectively. The duo earned a 5-0 mark in ACC play at No. 1 doubles and is 7-1 overall for the season.
The ACC Women’s Tennis Championship gets under way Thursday, April 25 at the Cary (N.C.) Tennis Park. Complete championship ticket packages as well as single day tickets are available at the Cary Tennis Park.
