GREENSBORO, N.C. – Miami freshman Lina Lileikite has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for the second week in a row after leading the Hurricanes to a conference victory over 48th-ranked Boston College in a battle of ranked teams.
The reigning ACC Player of the Week played like she didn’t want to give up the award against BC. Still ranked No. 118, Lileikite pushed her perfect record on the season to 9-0 in doubles and 7-0 in singles. The native of Latvia once again teamed up with senior Gabriela Mejia to dispatch the Boston College duo of Kikuchi/Wacnik in No. 2 doubles, 8-6. In singles, Lileikite downed Alex Kelleher in the No. 3 position, 6-3, 6-1.
After the 7-0 sweep of the Eagles, the Hurricanes are now 8-1 on the season. Miami, currently No. 12 nationally, is slated to play host to No. 11 Baylor today at 5 p.m. in another matchup of ranked teams.
