GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) - Georgia Tech freshman Megan Kurey has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week, announced Tuesday by the league office.
Kurey went 3-1 as Georgia Tech went 1-1 in ACC action last week, which included a win over No. 16 Florida State.
Against the Seminoles, Kurey ralled from a 6-4 first set loss against No. 72 Francesca Segarelli to win sets two and three, 6-2, 6-1, respectively at No. 4 singles and even the score 3-3, before teammate Elizabeth Kilborn clinched the win.
Earlier in doubles play, the Tech tandem of Kurey and Woodard cruised past their Florida State counterparts of Segarelli and Kristina Schleich, 8-3, at the top doubles position.
In the 6-1 loss at No. 13 Miami, Kurey and doubles partner Kendal Woodard took down the No. 43 Miami duo of Stephanie Wagner and Lina Lileikite, 8-5, at No. 1. They were the only doubles team to earn a victory against the Hurricanes.
