GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia senior Emily Fraser has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for the second time this season and the third time in her career.
The 21st-ranked Fraser led the Cavaliers to the championship of last weekend’s Blue/Gray Tennis Classic at Montgomery, Ala., with a pair of singles wins on the No. 1 court, including a 7-6, 6-2 win over 15rh-ranked Mary Anne MacFarlane of Alabama in Sunday’s title match. The win helped the No. 12 Cavaliers secure a 4-3 win over the No. 20 Crimson Tide.
Earlier in the tournament, Fraser scored a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Auburn’s Emily Flickinger as Virginia blanked the Tigers, 5-0.
Fraser, of Rye, N.Y., previously earned ACC Player of the Week honors on Jan. 24 of this year and once last season.
