GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Clemson sophomore Yana Koroleva and Duke sophomore Ester Goldfeld have been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Tennis Co-Players of the Week, announced Tuesday.
Koroleva went 2-0 in singles and doubles to help the Tigers top No. 22 Georgia Tech, 6-1, in both teams’ ACC opener on Feb. 13. The Moscow, Russia, native teamed with Tristen Dewar at No. 1 doubles to defeat the Yellow Jackets team of Kendal Woodard and Megan Kurey, 9-8 (4) and secure the first point of the match. In singles play, Koroleva cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 victory over No. 62 Elizabeth Kilborn and gave Georgia Tech control of the match.
Goldfeld helped Duke to earn its fourth win over a ranked foe last weekend with it topped No. 2 Florida, 4-0. In her first appearance of the season at No. 2 singles, Goldfeld was second off the courts for the Blue Devils after she defeated No. 9 Sofie Oyen, 6-3, 7-5, which gave Duke a commanding 3-0 lead. Goldfeld was ranked No. 45 heading into the match against the Gators.
