GREENSBORO, N.C. – Florida State sophomore Daneika Borthwick has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, announced Tuesday.
Borthwick was key to the Seminoles’ defeat of No. 45 USF, which marked their first win over the Bulls since 2009.
The native of Cumbria, England, picked up her sixth win over a ranked opponent on Feb. 2 as she defeated No. 35 Ecaterina Vasenina of USF, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 1. In doubles play, Borthwick teamed with Kerrie Cartwright and took care of the No. 50 duo of Loreta Alonso and Vasenina, 8-4.
Of Borthwick’s six wins over ranked foes, three have come in the spring dual season.
ACC women’s tennis action continues Thursday, with NC State hosting UNC Greensboro.
