GREENSBORO, N.C. - Georgia Tech junior Lynn Blau has been named the 2011 spring season's first Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week presented by Chevrolet after opening with pair of hard-fought singles wins and a doubles victory in the Michigan Invitational.

Blau, a native of Koerich, Luxembourg, lost the first set in both singles matches and was down to match-point in both before battling back for three-set victories.

Playing at the No. 5 spot, Blau scrapped for a 4-6, 7-6, 6-4 win over Kata Szekely of 13th-ranked Tennessee. Blau followed up that victory with a 6-7, 7-6, 6-3 win over Mimi Nguyen of eighth-ranked and host team Michigan.

On the first day of the tournament, Blau also teamed with Elizabeth Kilborn to defeat 23rd-ranked Washington's Samantha Smith and Lina Xu, 8-3, in doubles play. Blau's lone defeat of the first two days came in doubles as she and Kilborn dropped a tough 8-6 match to the ninth-ranked team of Millie Nichols and Rosalia Alda from Tennessee.
