GREENSBORO, N.C. - Seven Atlantic Coast Conference women's tennis teams are ranked among the top 25 of the ITA's 2011 spring preseason rankings, and nine are ranked among the top 52.
The 75-team rankings include No. 6 North Carolina, No. 7 Duke, No. 11 Clemson, No. 12 Miami, No. 14 Florida State, No. 16 Georgia Tech and No. 24 Virginia.
In addition, NC State earned a No. 46 preseason ranking, while Wake Forest is at No. 52.
Twenty-five ACC student-athletes are ranked among the top 125 singles players, led by No. 4 Reka Zsilinszka of Duke. Clemson's No. 12 Josipa Bek, North Carolina's No. 13 Zoe De Bruycker, Miami's No. 16 Bianca Eichkorn, Florida State's No. 18 Noemie Scharle, Duke's No. 25 Nadine Fahoum and Virginia's Erin Vierra join Zsilinszka to give the ACC seven players among the preseason top 30.
The ACC dominated the preseason doubles rankings, with seven teams among the top 16, and a total of 17 teams among the top 90.
Clemson's team of Keri Wong and Bek lead the ACC's doubles contingent with a No. 2 preseason ranking, followed by Duke's Ellah Nze and Fahoum at No. 4. The NC State team of Sandhya Nagaraj and Sanaa Bhambri is ranked seventh, while North Carolina's duo of Shinann Featherston-Lauren McHale is eighth and Virginia's Emily Fraser-Hana Tomlijanovic check in at No. 10.
Wake Forest's doubles team of Kathryn Talbert-Kayla Duncan ranks 14th, while the Virginia team of Maria Fuccillo-Rashmi Teltumbde is at No. 16.
