GREENSBORO, N.C. – Georgia Tech senior third baseman Kelsi Weseman and Florida State junior pitcher Monica Perry have been named the ACC Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, announced by the conference office on Tuesday. It is the second award for both players this season.
Weseman hit .625 and had an on-base percentage of .800 to lead Georgia Tech in both categories as the Jackets went 4-0 for the week. The Hutto, Tex., native hit two home runs, knocked in four, and scored seven runs. She walked five times without striking out as the Jackets improved to 23-16 and 6-3 in ACC play.
Perry went 3-0 last week with a win over Florida Gulf Coast and two over ranked conference rival North Carolina. In the three games, the native of Whitesburg, GA., held her opponents to a combined .176 batting average in 20.0 innings pitched while striking out 26 batters with only two walks. Perry improves to 15-2 on the season and has a 0.82 ERA.
