Haleigh Dickey and Lacey Waldrop Earn ACC Softball Weekly Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. – North Carolina junior Haleigh Dickey and Florida State freshman Lacey Waldrop have been named the ACC Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

Dickey hit her first career grand slam in a midweek contest against South Carolina as the Tar Heels defeated the Gamecocks 8-0 to improve to 22-8. The Woodstock, Ga., native leads the ACC and is tied for the team-lead in doubles, and is second on the team in RBIs and home runs.

Waldrop went 4-0 with wins over Jacksonville, Florida A&M, and two against Virginia. She only allowed eight hits and two runs in 21.0 innings pitched with 20 strikeouts and two walks. The Chester, Va., native threw a complete-game one-hit shutout and struck out a career-high 10 batters on Saturday against Virginia as she improved to 14-2 on the season with a 0.95 ERA.
