Kelsi Weseman and Lori Spingola Earn ACC Softball Weekly Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Georgia Tech senior third baseman Kelsi Weseman and North Carolina sophomore pitcher Lori Spingola have been named the ACC Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

Weseman batted .500 as the Yellow Jackets went 4-1 last week, including a sweep of conference foe Boston College and a 2-0 shutout of in-state rival and eighth-ranked Georgia. The Hutto, Tex., native had five RBIs on six hits and scored five runs. She slugged .833 on the week with a double and a home run, and didn’t strike out in her 12 at-bats.

Spingola went 4-0 with four complete games and two shutouts. She only allowed 15 hits and two earned runs in 28.0 innings pitched while striking out 30. The native of Atlanta, Ga., posted an ERA of 0.50 as the Tar Heels improved to 21-8 and won their first conference series against Virginia Tech. This is her second weekly honor of the season.
