ACC Players of the Week Presented by Chevrolet

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Florida State sophomore Tiffani Brown and her teammate, senior Sarah Hamilton, have been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week presented by Chevrolet for their outstanding performances last week. Brown safely stole six bases, while Hamilton pitched a complete game shutout against the Wildcats. The Seminoles went 4-1 at their Garnet and Gold Tournament in Tallahassee, while also defeating Florida A&M earlier in the week.

Brown hit .450 and drove in three runs in six games on the week. Facing No. 24 Kentucky Saturday, the Tallahassee, Fla., third baseman hit a triple and scored a run, helping the Seminoles earn a 2-0 victory. Later that day, she went 2-for-3 at the plate against Middle Tennessee State and tallied three RBI as FSU won 11-1. Brown recorded at least one hit and one stolen base in five of her six games. She finished the week with six stolen bases – including two in one game – and is currently a perfect 8-for-8 in stolen base attempts on the season.

A right-handed pitcher from Tallahassee, Fla., Hamilton made four appearances last week, finishing with a 1.43 ERA and a 2-1 record. She allowed just three earned runs in 14.2 innings of work. Hamilton opened the week with a save in the 8-5 win against Florida A&M. She struck out four, while giving up just two hits and no earned runs. Hamilton pitched a complete game shutout against No. 24 Kentucky Saturday, claiming a 2-0 win. She struck out seven batters and only allowed six hits. Hamilton finished the week with 23 strikeouts, including nine in Friday’s victory over Georgia Southern.

ACC softball action continues Wednesday with three teams on the road to face non-conference opponents. Florida State is one of seven squads competing in tournaments this weekend. The Seminoles travel to Palm Springs, Calif., for the Cathedral City Classic Thursday through Sunday.
