ACC Players of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Maryland senior pitcher Kendra Knight and Florida State third baseman Briana Hamilton have been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Softball Pitcher and Player of the Week.

Knight gave the Terrapins two stellar starts to help propel them to wins over No. 11 Michigan and No. 22 Kentucky. The Virginia Beach, Va., native only allowed three earned runs on six hits while striking out 17 in 16.0 innings pitched in the two complete games thrown. Against the Wildcats, she did not allow a hit in the two extra innings.

Hamilton hit .600 with one double, one triple, and two home runs, and knocked in six runners as the Seminoles went 4-0 over the weekend to improve to 9-0 this season. Against North Dakota State, the native of Woodruff, S.C., hit the game-winning two-run home run, and set a new career high with four RBIs against Western Carolina.

ACC softball returns to action on Wednesday with Florida State, Maryland, and North Carolina in action.
