TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- The No. 19 Florida State softball team defeated Florida International two times Tuesday evening on JoAnne Graf Field.
The Seminoles (24-4) won game one by a score of 8-3 and then followed that with a 7-2 victory over the Golden Panthers (18-5).
In the first game, Hamilton pitched three full innings for her 12th win of the season. In her brief amount of work, the junior standout struck out four and walked just one while giving up three hits and two runs.
Varsalona also pitched three full innings; her season high. She allowed one hit and posted two strike outs before being replaced by Bullock in the final inning.
Offensively, Monica Montez tied her career high with three RBIs on 2-of-3 hitting. Brown, who posted a game-high three hits, added an RBI and Jen Lapicki, Tory Haddad and Courtney Rosen all batted in a run each.
Carly Wynn registered a game-high three runs, which tied her career high. The Seminoles cracked 10 hits in total.
In the second game, Gober improved to 12-2 by pitching four innings and allowing four hits and one run with six strikeouts.
Townsend then made her first appearance as a Seminole. The true freshman from Live Oak, Fla. was impressive in the circle, tossing three innings and allowing just two hits and one run.
She also struck out three FIU batters.
Shayla Jackson and Lapicki led the 'Noles on offense, pounding two RBIs apiece. Wynn also had an RBI.
