GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Miami junior Kate Howarth has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week after leading the Hurricanes to a pair of league wins over top-10 ranked opponents.

Howarth scored both goals in Sunday's 2-1 win over 10th-ranked Maryland. The Grand Blanc, Mich., forward's second goal came in the 62nd minute and snapped a 1-1 tie.
Howarth leads Miami in scoring this season with nine goals and six assists and is tied for fourth among ACC players in scoring with 24 points. The Hurricanes, bidding to nail down a spot in the upcoming ACC Championship, will be on the road for their final two regular season games, facing Florida State on Oct. 23 and Virginia on Oct. 27.
