ACC Players of the Week Presented by Chevrolet

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Duke junior goalkeeper Tara Campbell and Virginia junior forward Caroline Miller have been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Soccer Co-Players of the Week.

Campbell recorded seven saves while facing 16 shots as the fourth-ranked Blue Devils edged fifth-ranked Boston College by a 1-0 score last Thursday night. Miller delivered two goals, including the game-winner in overtime, as the eighth-ranked Cavaliers slipped past No. 10 Florida State by a 4-3 score on Saturday evening.

Campbell led Duke to its first-ever victory at Boston College, including the Blue Devils’ first match on turf of the season. In goal, Campbell’s seven saves fell one shy of matching a season high. The shutout for Campbell was her ACC-leading 10th on the season, a new Duke single-season record. She owns a total of 24 shutouts in her three years at Duke. The Cincinnati, Ohio, junior’s efforts against BC helped the Blue Devils move to 13-1-1 overall and 5-0-1 in ACC action.

Virginia’s Miller scored two goals, including the golden goal in the 93rd minute of the win over Florida State. The Rockville, Md., junior has scored the game-winner in all three Virginia ACC wins this season, including two in overtime. Miller is the first conference player to score two overtime goals in ACC play since UNC’s Meghan Klingenberg and Casey Noguiera both accomplished the feat in 2007. Miller has scored five of Virginia’s nine goals in ACC play this season.
