GREENSBORO, N.C . (theACC.com) - Florida State junior goalkeeper Kelsey Wys and Maryland junior forward Hayley Brock have been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Co-Players of the Week, announced by conference officials on Tuesday.
Wys led top-ranked Florida State to a pair of 1-0 shutout wins over No. 2/2 Duke and No. 14/15 Wake Forest in the Seminoles' opening week of league action. She played all 180 minutes and totaled eight saves, while extending her shutout streak to 348 minutes. Wys posted four saves in the victory over Duke, who entered the game as the highest scoring team in the nation, and held it without a goal for the first time this season. She also made four saves against the Demon Deacons to help propel Florida State to its best start in program history at 8-0-0.
It is Wys' second Player of the Week honor of the season. She earned her first mention on August 28.
Brock registered six points on three goals in a 2-0 week for Maryland. She scored the game-winning goal in a 2-1 win over No. 12/6 North Carolina, and helped the Terps make history as they became the first team to defeat the Tar Heels three consecutive seasons and the second team to post three-straight wins over North Carolina. Brock followed up that performance with a two-goal outing to lead Maryland to a 4-1 win over Clemson.
