Florida State's Kristin Grubka Named NSCAA Player of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo.  – Florida State sophomore defender Kristin Grubka was selected as this week’s Disney Soccer/NSCAA National Player of the Week.

Grubka led the Seminoles with four points on two goals, both of which were game winners, while playing an integral role in FSU’s backline. Florida State went 2-0 last week blanking No. 22/13 Florida, 1-0, and College of Charleston, 4-0.

Her efforts last week also earned her ACC Player of the Week and TopDrawerSoccer.com Player of the Week Honors.

Grubka is the second student-athlete from the ACC to be awarded NSCAA National Player of the Week honors as Duke’s Kim DeCesare was honored in week one.

Other women’s nominees included senior midfielder/forward Paige Goeglein (Middle Tennessee), senior goalkeeper Mellissa Hutto (Kennesaw State), senior goalkeeper Caitlin Landsman (Marist), senior midfielder Mallory Schaffer (William & Mary), junior goalkeeper Katie Merson (Georgia Southern), junior defender Kat Ludlow (Baylor), sophomore forward Melissa Frederick (Iona), sophomore midfielder Emily Hartshorn (Middle Tennessee), sophomore midfielder Erin Yenney (Louisville), sophomore forward Taylor Uhl (Minnesota), freshman forward Tara Ballay (Rider) and freshman forward Ashley Williams (Kansas).

The Disney Soccer/NSCAA National Players of the Week are announced every Wednesday. One male and one female player is selected by a committee from nominations submitted by NCAA Division I conferences.

The winners will also be recognized during the NSCAA College Game of the Week broadcast on FOX Soccer.
