GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Florida State sophomore defender Kristin Grubka has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference women’s soccer player of the week following her role in a pair of Seminole shutouts over No. 22/13 Florida and College Charleston.
Grubka scored both game-winning goals to help the Seminoles blank No. 22/13 Florida, 1-0, and College of Charleston, 4-0, while totaling 180 minutes in the backline. A dangerous threat in the air, the Melbourne Fla., native headed in the only goal Florida State would need to top the Gators at home for the first time since 2006. Grubka capped the weekend using her head to net the game winner against College of Charleston off a corner kick late in the first half.
She also played an integral role in the Seminoles’ defensive contingent that limited Florida and College of Charleston to just seven shots combined.
This is Grubka’s first career ACC Player of the Week nod.
