Seven ACC teams ranked among top 17 of NSCAA Women's Soccer Preseason Poll

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Two-time defending NCAA champion North Carolina leads a strong Atlantic Coast Conference contingent in the 2010 NSCAA Women's Soccer Preseason Poll, which was released Tuesday afternoon.

The Tar Heels hold the No. 1 ranking, and three other ACC teams are among the top 10. Florida State and Boston College, which shared the 2009 regular-season conference title, are ranked sixth and seventh respectively. Wake Forest holds a No. 10 preseason ranking.

Virginia Tech checks in at No. 15, while Maryland is ranked 16th and Virginia 17th.

Each of the ACC teams ranked in the 2010 NSCAA preseason poll reached the final 16 of the 2009 NCAA Tournament. Duke also represented the ACC in NCAA play last season.

The 2010 season gets under way the weekend of Aug. 20-22, when all 11 ACC tams are scheduled to be in action.
