Virginia, which captured the championship of the South and Central Regions last week in Oak Ridge, Tenn., finds itself the nation’s No. 1-ranked rowing team heading into the NCAA National Championships, which will be held May 28-30 in Sacramento, Calif. This marks the third week UVa has been the top-ranked team in the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) national poll. Earlier this year, Virginia became the first Atlantic Coast Conference rowing team to be ranked No. 1 on April 7. Virginia was also top ranked on April 14 before being ranked third the past four weeks. The Cavaliers had 11 first-place votes to nudge second-place Princeton (10 first place votes).
Clemson, which also received a bid to this year’s NCAA Championships and finished second in the South Regional competition, was ranked 12th nationally this week.
