CHARLOTTESVILLE - The top-ranked Virginia rowing team competed in the Eisenberg Cup on Lake Carnegie (Princeton, N.J.) on Saturday vs. No. 4 Yale and No. 6 Princeton. In good conditions with an increasing headwind, Princeton claimed the Varsity Eight and the Second Varsity Eight races, while UVa was victorious in the Varsity Four, the Third Varsity Eight and the Second Varsity Four.
UVa's Varsity Four (coxswain Sarah Pichardo, Mackenzie Leahy, Hunter Terry, Ruth Retzinger, Inge Janssen) earned the Cavaliers' first victory of the day with a time of 7:34.4, defeating second-place Princeton (7:41.6) and third-place Yale (7:47.2).
In the Third Varsity Eight race, Virginia 'A' (coxswain Sarah Shanfield, Susie Chalker, Jenny Shultis, Erin Hawes, Marelle Myers, Morgan Joseph, Liza Tullis, Carolyn Glandorf, Hannah Silver) and Virginia 'B' (Erin Friedlander, Alison Lyons, Erin Metcalf, Susanne Grainger, Sandy Suhling, Taylor Levine, Molly Schwoebel, Reva Geier, Ann Reid) finished first and second with times of 7:17.3 and 7:19.1
