GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Thirteen ACC Women’s Lacrosse student-athletes garnered All-America accolades for the 2013 season, as announced Wednesday by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA).
Seven from the ACC were named to the All-America first team, the most of any conference in the nation. Maryland leads all schools with four on the first team: Alex Aust, Taylor Cummings, Iliana Sanza, and Katie Schwarzmann. Kara Cannizzaro and Sloane Serpe from North Carolina and Duke’s Taylor Virden also earned first-team recognition.
Named to the second team from the conference are Boston College’s Mikaela Rix and Covie Stanwick, Duke’s Kelsey Duryea, and North Carolina’s Abbey Friend. Earning third-team honors are North Carolina’s Brittney Coppa and Virginia’s Casey Bocklet.
The ACC’s 13 All-Americans are tied with the American Lacrosse Conference for the most of any conference in the nation.
