GREENSBORO, N.C. - North Carolina senior goalkeeper Logan Ripley was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week for the period ending on Sunday, April 11. Ripley tied her career-high with 13 saves in the third-ranked Tar Heels' 13-9 win over second-ranked Maryland on April 11 at Fetzer Field in Chapel Hill.
Ripley, the reigning National Goalkeeper of the Year, also gathered three ground balls, while limiting the Terrapins, who entered the game averaging nearly 15 goals per contest, to nine scores in their first regular-season loss in over two seasons. In addition, Carolina's 13 goals are the most allowed by the Maryland program this season.
The senior from Earlysville, Va., played stoutly in the cage for Carolina, stopping several shots from close range. Ripley's save tally tied her 13 saves in last year's regular-season win at Duke. For the day, she allowed nine goals and made 13 saves in 60 minutes of action.
The win improved Carolina to 11-1 this season, 3-1 in the Atlantic Coast Conference with one league game left to play. The Tar Heels will return to action on Wednesday night when they host Duke at 7 p.m.
