GREENSBORO, N.C. - Virginia Tech senior midfielder Jessica Nonn and Duke freshman defender Gabby Moise have earned Atlantic Coast Conference women's lacrosse weekly awards. Nonn was named the Offensive Player of the Week and Moise was named the Defensive Player of the Week.
Nonn, of Catonsville, Md., scored the final three Hokie goals of the game including the game winner in overtime as Virginia Tech upset No. 7 Virginia 10-9 on Saturday in Blacksburg. Nonn finished the game with four goals and a ground ball to lead Virginia Tech to its first ever wins over a top-10 team. Virginia Tech travels to Longwood for a 7 p.m. contest on Wednesday.
Moise, of Princeton, N.J., led Duke's defense to a come from behind victory over No. 20 Boston College. Making only her second start of the season, the freshman defender recorded two ground balls, two caused turnovers and a draw control while also holding Boston College's leading scorer scoreless in the second half. Duke will host High Point at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
