GREENSBORO, N.C. – Maryland junior midfielder Katie Schwarzmann and Duke senior midfielder Kim Wenger have earned Atlantic Coast Conference women’s lacrosse weekly awards. Schwarzmann was named the Offensive Player of the Week and Wenger was named the Defensive Player of the Week.
Schwarzmann, of Sykesville, Md., scored six goals and tallied two assists on the week, including a hat trick against No. 6 Virginia. The junior also racked up two draw controls and caused a turnover to pace the Terps to their first ACC win of the year. Against Hofstra, Schwarzmann led a tenacious Terrapin effort en route to an 11-4 victory. Maryland will put their 36-game home winning streak on the line against Syracuse on Saturday.
Wenger, of Malvern, Pa., scored two goals and added a caused turnover along with a ground ball in Duke’s 12-9 victory over No. 9 Princeton. Wenger also added three draw controls in the game while drawing the top defensive assignment for the Blue Devils. Duke will take the field next when they host No. 15 Georgetown on Saturday.
