Seven ACC Teams, Two Individuals Selected to NCAA Women's Golf Regionals

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The NCAA Division I Women's Golf Committee announced on April 30 the teams and individuals selected to participate in the 2012 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Regionals.

Seven of the nine ACC teams and two individuals were selected to advance to regional play and extend their seasons. In the East Regional, being played at the Penn State Blue Course in State College, Pa., Atlantic Coast Conference Champion Duke, Wake Forest, and Maryland will be the ACC representatives.

In the Central Regional, being played at the Ohio State University Club Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio, NC State, Virginia and Florida State will compete from the ACC. Also, in the Central Region will be two freshmen from Miami competing as individuals in Rika Park (Fujieda Shi-Shizouka, Japan) and Leticia Ras-Anderica (Moraira-Teulada, Spain).

And in the West Regional, being played at the Colorado National Golf Club in Erie, Colo., the ACC will be represented by North Carolina.

2012 marks the fourth year the ACC has sent seven teams to the NCAA Regionals, with seven teams participating in the 2010, 2007 and 2006 seasons.

Three regional tournaments will be held May 10-12 to determine the championship field. Eight teams and two individuals will advance from each regional.

The NCAA Women's Golf Championship finals will be held May 22-25 at the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn.
