GREENSBORO, N.C. – Wake Forest sophomore, Cheyenne Woods, from Phoenix, Ariz. has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Golfer of the Month for April.
Woods broke through and claimed her first collegiate victory at the Bryan National Collegiate on April 2-4. Woods finished the event with a career-best 5-under 211 total and she also matched her 18-hole career-best with a 3-under 69 in the second round. The 5-under 211 total is tied for the second-lowest 54-score in school history. She bested her previous 54-hole career best by five shots.
Woods opened the tournament with a strong round of 2-under 70 and then bolted to a share of the 36-hole lead after firing a career-low tying 3-under 69 in the second round. She then made two birdies and 14 pars in her solid final round 72 which allowed her to secure a two-shot victory. Woods also helped lead the Demon Deacons to a second-place finish in the event.
For her efforts, Woods was named Golfweek and Golf World National Player of the Week on April 5.
