GREENSBORO, N.C. – Duke’s Lindy Duncan and NC State’s Brittany Marchand have been named Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s February Co-Golfers of the Month.
Duncan, a junior from Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. notched her fourth collegiate victory and her second of the 2011-12 season at the Northrop Grumman Challenge, played February 13-15 in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif. with rounds of 69-71-70=210. Duncan won by four strokes in a standout field that included 15 teams ranked. Duncan totaled 11 birdies over the three days for the victory. Her 54-hole total of 210 was a career best.
In the latest tournament at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate, played February 26-28 in New Orleans, La., Duncan carded a three-under-par final round 69 to help lead the Duke Blue Devils to the team title. She carded rounds of 73-73-69 for a total of 215, which was good for fourth place individually.
NC State’s Brittany Marchand, a sophomore from Orangeville, Ontario, Canada became the Wolfpack’s all-time wins leader with her second career medalist honor, earned in a playoff over teammate Augusta James at the Sir Pizza Cards Challenge, played February 27-28 in Weston, Fla. Marchand’s efforts, a 6-under 210, qualified as the third best score in program history and helped lead her team to the championship title.
The ACC Women’s Golfer of the Month for February included tournaments played January 1, 2012 through February 29, 2012.
