GREENSBORO, N.C. – Maryland senior goalkeeper Melissa Vassalotti has been named the ACC Field Hockey Player of the Week for her performance in a 2-1 win at No. 8 Duke on Oct. 8.

The Huntingdon Valley, Pa. native helped the Terrapins win their ninth straight game and 15th straight regular season ACC game Saturday with seven saves in the win. The Blue Devils outshot Maryland 15-9 on the day, and Vassalotti finished one save shy of her career high.

When Jemma Buckley scored her second goal of the game with just under ten minutes remaining, Vassalotti notched three of her seven saves in the final minutes to preserve the lead.

Maryland improved to 11-1 overall and 4-0 in conference play. The 3rd-ranked Terrapins return to action on Friday when they host Old Dominion, the top ranked team in the country, at 6:00 p.m. in College Park, Md.
