GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia midfielder Paige Selenski scored six goals over two games and has been honored as the Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week.
A junior from Shavertown, Pa., Selenski tallied 12 points as No. 3 Virginia (4-0) earned two victories last week.
Against then-No. 16 Old Dominion, Selenski scored a career-high four goals, connecting on all four of her shots on goal. Virginia tallied three goals in the final 14 minutes, including two from Selenski, to break open a 2-2 tie. The Cavaliers went on to win 5-2. It marked the third hat trick of Selenski’s career, and the four goals are the most by a Virginia player since 2004.
In a 2-0 victory over Northwestern, Selenski found the back of the net twice after firing three shots on goal.
Selenski has scored nine goals in Virginia’s four games this season. She currently ranks sixth in school history with 55 career goals.
