Duke's Gray and North Carolina's Rountree Earn ACC Women's Basketball Weekly Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) - Duke sophomore guard Chelsea Gray and North Carolina freshman guard Brittany Rountree earned 2011-12 Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Basketball Player and Rookie of the Week honors, respectively, for the week ending Sunday, Dec. 4.

Gray registered just the fourth triple-double in school history on Sunday against Pittsburgh with 14 points, 13 assists and 11 rebounds. She hit 5-of-7 field goals and 2-of-2 from downtown. Her 11 rebounds was a career high, while her 13 assists was a new school record for Duke. In addition, the Stockton, Calif., native guided the Blue Devils to two home nonconference wins against 13th-ranked Purdue and Pittsburgh. Against Purdue on Thursday, Gray had 11 points, seven rebounds, four assists, two blocks and three steals in 36 minutes. On the week, Gray averaged 12.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 8.5 assists, 4.5 steals and 1.5 blocks. She hit 52.9 percent of her field goals and 66.7 percent from beyond the arc.

Rountree, playing in just her sixth collegiate game, had a breakout performance, scoring a game-high 27 points in the loss at 16th-ranked Penn State. The newcomer from Jacksonville, Fla., made a season-best five three-pointers and made all of her eight free throw attempts. In addition, Rountree dished out three assists and committed just one turnover in 31 minutes in the Tar Heels' lone game of the week.

ACC women's basketball action continues tonight as the No. 9 Miami Hurricanes welcome No. 11 Rutgers to BankUnited Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
