GREENSBORO, N.C. - Florida State junior forward Natasha Howard and Georgia Tech freshman Brittany Jackson have been named the ACC Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, tt was announced Monday afternoon by league officials.
Howard averaged 20.5 points and 10 rebounds in a 2-0 week for the Seminoles. Howard earned her first double-double of the season with 18 points and 11 rebounds in a 98-67 win over Florida on Nov. 15, and followed that up with a game-high 23 points and nine rebounds in a 76-44 win over Stetson on Nov. 18. Howard shot nearly 60 percent from the floor in the wins, and added three steals in each game. This is her first ACC Player of the Week honor.
Jackson helped the Yellow Jackets to a pair of wins over Kennesaw State (80-51) and Marquette (76-72), while contributing 15.0 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. Jackson shot 45 percent from the field, including 66.7 percent from long distance in the two wins. Against Marquette, Jackson registered her first 20-plus point performance of her career with 21 points, while connecting on five-of-eight 3-pointers.
ACC women's basketball action continues Tuesday as Boston College hosts New Hampshire and Charleston Southern plays at NC State. Both games tip-off at 7 p.m.
