GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Maryland junior forward Alyssa Thomas collected yet another All-America honor as she was named to the U.S. Basketball Writers Association Women’s All-America Team announced on Wednesday. The honor is the second of her career as she was also an USBWA All-America selection following the 2011-12 season.
Thomas, an AP All-America Second Team selection and the ACC Player of the Year, finished her junior year with 18.8 points, 10.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game, and is the only player in the country to rank in the Top 50 in all three statistical categories. She also led the ACC in all three categories. Thomas registered a league-high 20 double-doubles, including 12 in league action, and two triple-doubles during the 2012-13 season.
She led the injury plagued Terps to 26-8 overall mark and an appearance in the NCAA Sweet Sixteen for the second straight season. Maryland finished tied for second with North Carolina with a 14-4 ACC record.
