Six Named All-Region by the WBCA

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Six Atlantic Coast Conference women’s basketball student-athletes from five institutions have been named All-Region nominees for the 2013 WBCA Division I Coaches’ All-America Team.

Included on the Region 2 Team, and among the 52 nominees, are Duke junior guard Chelsea Gray and sophomore center Elizabeth Williams, Georgia Tech junior guard Tyaunna Marshall, Maryland senior forward Tianna Hawkins and junior forward Alyssa Thomas, and North Carolina senior guard Tierra Ruffin-Pratt.

All six were named to the All-ACC First Team by both the Blue Ribbon Panel and the head coaches. Thomas was named the ACC Player of the Year by the Blue Ribbon Panel and shared the same honor as named by head coaches with Gray. Williams was selected the league’s Defensive Player of the Year for the second straight season.

The selection committee will select the 10-member WBCA Division I Coaches’ All-America Team from the 52 selections.
