CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) - Shenise Johnson, Riquna Williams and Krystal Saunders each scored 16 points to lead No. 7 Miami past Louisiana Monroe 103-39 on Friday night.
Johnson scored eight points, including two 3-pointers, during an opening 22-0 run by the Hurricanes (9-1), who were never threatened.
The Warhawks broke the scoring drought on Larrie Williams' jumper 4:53 into the game, but Miami scored the next 11 points and took a 33-2 lead on Jessica Capers' jumper with 9:26 to go in the half.
The Hurricanes shot 12 of 16 from the field in the first 9 minutes, while the Warhawks converted only one of 13 shots.
ATLANTA - Senior Sasha Goodlett led four Yellow Jackets in double figures as Georgia Tech (7-3) cruised to an 85-50 win over Georgia State (3-5) Friday night at the GSU Sports Arena.
Goodlett finished with a game-high 16 points and just needs 22 more points to become the 25th Yellow Jacket to score 1,000 points in a career. Ty Marshall, who has finished in double-figures in nine of the 10 games this season, closed out the game with 15 points, while Sydney Wallace scored 13 and Metra Walthour finished with 11.
The Yellow Jackets came out of the locker room aggressive on the defensive side of the ball, holding Georgia State scoreless for the first five and half minutes of the game. The Jackets followed the strong start with a 14-0 run between the 9:50 and 5:07 marks of the half to enter the half leading 36-19.
