CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Senior center Waltiea Rolle powered her way to a career-high 24 points as the No. 21 North Carolina women's basketball team defeated Radford 64-44 Wednesday in Carmichael Arena.
Rolle also chipped in five blocks and seven rebounds in her effort, while freshman forward Xylina McDaniel put up 16 points, shooting 10-for-12 from the free-throw line, and eight boards.
Senior forward Krista Gross led the Tar Heels' defensive effort, posting a career-high 17 rebounds alongside her nine points. Twelve of those rebounds came on the defensive end against a scrappy Highlander squad.Virginia Tech Falters at Richmond, 65-51
RICHMOND, Va. - The Virginia Tech women's basketball team fell to Richmond, 65-51 on Wednesday evening in non-conference action at the Robins Center in Richmond, Va.
Monet Tellier led all scorers with 20 points for the Hokies (4-3). Freshman Lauren Evans had 12 points and Alyssa Fenyn added nine for Tech. Tellier and freshman Alex Kiss-Rusk each grabbed a team-best five rebounds.
Leading the Spiders (6-4) was Rachael Bilney with 16 points. Becca Wann added 15 points, nine rebounds and handed out five assists.
