Noles Down Wake Forest, 83-38

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -Chasity Clayton had 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead No. 15 Florida State to an 83-38 rout of Wake Forest on Sunday.

The Seminoles (20-4, 6-2 ACC) held the Demon Deacons (14-9, 5-4 ACC) to 21.8 percent shooting, the 13th time this season they held an opponent to under 35 percent from the floor.

Florida State opened the game on a 10-2 run, holding the Demon Deacons to just one basket in their first 10 attempts. Wake Forest made just five baskets in the first half and trailed 36-15 at the break.

The Seminoles led by as many as 45, hitting four of their first five 3-pointers and six of 10 overall. Jacinta Monroe added 15 points for FSU, while Brittany Waters led Wake Forest with 15 points.

Kastanek Paces NC State Over Virginia Tech, 70-57

RALEIGH, N.C. - Freshman Marissa Kastanek scored a game-high 19 points to send NC State to a 70-57 ACC women's basketball victory over Virginia Tech on Sunday at Reynolds Coliseum.

NC State (13-10, 3-5 ACC) also got 15 points from Amber White and 12 from Bonae Holston. Lindsay Biggs had 21 points for Virginia Tech (12-11, 2-7 ACC).

NC State jumped on the Hokies right out of halftime with seven of the first nine points of the second half to grab a commanding 17-point edge - 42-25. White and Holston did all the scoring in staking the Pack to its large lead.

The lead stayed in double digits the entire second half for the Wolfpack. The lead was trimmed to 11 midway through, but Kastanek was left wide open in the corner for three and White added a pair from the stripe and it was back to a 57-41 advantage.

Hurricanes Handle SIU Edwardsville for 16th Win

CORAL GABLES - The University of Miami women's basketball team (16-7) shook off early-game rust and pulled away from the overmatched SIU Edwardsville Cougars (6-19), 85-60 on Super Sunday at the BankUnited Center.

Five Hurricane players scored in double-figures, led by Shenise Johnson's 16. The sophomore also added nine rebounds and three assists in the contest.

Freshman Morgan Stroman recorded her third double-double of the season with her 13 points and 10 rebounds. The Hopkins, S.C. native hit 7-of- 8 free throws in her second consecutive start.

Coming off the bench, sophomore Sylvia Bullock scored a career-high 11 points while adding three rebounds. Riquna Williams hit two threes on the day, scoring 12 points in all, while recording a game and career-high seven steals.

Senior Diane Barnes who is one of three `Canes that average double-figure scoring on the season, put in 11 points - going a perfect 5-of-5 from the field. The Lakeland, Fla. native also had her hand in on three steals.
