No. 21 Georgia Tech Overpowers Clemson, 72-58

ATLANTA (AP) - Brigitte Ardossi scored 19 points and Mo Bennett added 15 as No. 21 Georgia Tech bounced back from a loss in its ACC opener at North Carolina with a 72-58 win over Clemson on Monday night.

Georgia Tech (14-3, 1-1 ACC) is 7-0 at home this season. The Yellow Jackets had a 48-33 edge on the boards, with Bennett getting nine rebounds and Ardossi grabbing eight.

Lindsey Mason scored 14 points and Shaniqua Pauldo added 11 for Clemson (9-9, 0-2). Lele Hardy also had 11, but was 4-for-18 from the field.

Wright Becomes UVa’s All-Time Leading Scorer In 61-60 Loss To Maryland

CHARLOTTESVILLE (AP) - Monica Wright scored 20 points to pass Dawn Staley as the women's career scoring leader in Virginia history, but No. 23 Virginia lost 61-60 to Maryland on Monday night.

Wright finished with 20 points, and had a chance to win the game at the buzzer, but was defended very closely and no foul was called.

The Terrapins (13-3, 1-1 Atlantic Coast Conference), coming off a 28-point loss at North Carolina State, only let Virginia lead twice, both times briefly, and won despite turning the ball over 28 times. They also held the Cavaliers to just 30.8 percent shooting overall.
