Twenty-Five ACC Wrestlers to Compete in NCAA Championships

March 10, 2010

GREENSBORO, N.C. - A total of 25 competitors from the Atlantic Coast Conference received bids to the 2010 NCAA Wrestling Championships, which will be held March 18-20 at the Qwest Center in Omaha, Neb.

Seven wrestlers will compete as national seeds in their weight classes, including five 2009 All-Americans - Maryland's Steven Bell, Alex Krom and Hudson Taylor, Virginia's Chris Henrich and Duke's Konrad Dudziak.

Bell will be seeded ninth at 133 pounds, Krom eighth at 141, Taylor third at 197, Henrich third at 174 and Dudziak fourth at 285. Dudizak was the NCAA runner-up in his weight class last year.

In addition, Virginia Tech's Jesse Dong drew a No. 3 seed at 157 pounds, and the Hokies' Chris Diaz will be seeded 11th at 141.

Twenty-four wrestlers earned automatic NCAA berths during last Saturday's ACC Championships at Raleigh, N.C., led by conference champions Virginia with a school-record eight. NC State's Bobby Ward was awarded an at-large berth at 149 pounds by the NCAA on Wednesday. The at-large selections were made by the NCAA Division I Wrestling Committee using the selection criteria without priority order, which consists of head-to-head competition, qualifying event placement, quality wins, results against common opponents, winning percentage, rating percentage index, coaches ranking and number of matches contested at that weight class.

Please see below for the complete list of ACC wrestlers that are scheduled to compete in the 2010 NCAAs.
