GREENSBORO, N.C. - Virginia senior Michael Shabaz was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week presented by Chevrolet for the third straight week and fifth time this season after leading the top-ranked Cavaliers to a pair of 7-0 victories over two fellow ranked conference opponents.

Shabaz scored a 6-1, 6-3 win over Miami's Waylon Chin, then moved up to No. 1 singles vs. Florida State, where he defeated No. 26 Vahid Mirzadeh by a 6-4, 6-1 score.

Shabaz also teamed with Drew Courtney for a pair of wins at No. 1 doubles, including a 9-8(5) victory over FSU's 15th-ranked team of Mirzadeh and Connor Smith.

Shabaz, of Fairfax, Va., improved to 15-1 in dual matches this season. He has lost five games or fewer in each of his last four matches (and in six of his last seven). In addition to this week's Player of the Week honor, Shabaz was also cited as the ACC Player or Co-Player of the Week on Jan. 25, Feb. 8, March 15 and March 22.
