GREENSBORO, N.C. - Virginia junior Jarmere Jenkins has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the second time this season after leading the Cavaliers to a pair of come-from-behind wins over fellow top-16 ranked opponents.
Playing on the No. 1 court at No. 12 Mississippi State, Jenkins rallied from a set down to turn back No. 27 Artem Ilyushin by a 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 count. Jenkins victory broke a 3-3 tie and lifted the Cavaliers' to a 4-3 win. Playing on the No. 2 court at No. 16 Ole Miss, Jenkins was one of four Cavaliers to rally from losing the first set to win in singles as Virginia came back from a 3-0 deficit to post another 4-3 win. Jenkins downed No. 46 Marcel Thiemann, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4. The comeback by the third-ranked Cavaliers was one of the biggest in program history.
