GREENSBORO, N.C. - Miami's Carl Sundberg, a senior from Oslo, Norway, has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week presented by Chevrolet.
Sundberg defeated Jordan Kelly-Houston in three sets to clinch Miami's 4-3 win at No. 28 Florida State on Saturday to give the Hurricanes the road victory in their first ACC match of the season. Sundberg, who earned All-America honors in doubles play as a freshman, paired with Christian Blocker to knock off FSU's Andres Bucaro and Anderson Reed, 8-5, in No. 2 doubles action.
Then, playing at No. 4 singles, Sundberg cruised past Jordan Kelly-Houston 6-1 in the first set and then dropped the second set 4-6. With the match on the line, he took the commanding 6-3 decision in the third set for Miami's second-straight win overall to push the `Canes to 1-0 in conference play.
