ACC Players of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Duke junior Henrique Cunha has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week. It marks the fifth straight week that the Jau, Brazil, native has won or shared the honor.

Cunha guided Duke to a 2-1 record against three top-10 teams over the weekend at the 2012 ITA Men’s National Team Indoor Championships in Charlottesville, Va. Ranked seventh in the latest ITA poll, Cunha remained unbeaten in No. 1 singles play with a pair of straight-set victories over No. 39 Nick Meister of eight-ranked UCLA and No. 40 Bob van Overbeek of fifth-ranked Florida.

Cunha also recently entered the doubles rankings, checking in at No. 13 nationally along with sophomore Fred Saba. The tandem notched an 8-3 upset of ninth-ranked Nassam Slilam and Billy Federhofer in Sunday’s consolation match against Florida to lead the 10th-ranked Blue Devils to a 4-0 sweep of the Gators.
